Understanding TPOs, Conservation Areas, and Planning Controls for Tree Work

When it comes to tree work, certain legal restrictions may apply, such as Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or trees located within conservation areas. TPOs protect specific trees or woodlands, making it illegal to prune, cut down, or remove them without prior approval. Similarly, trees in conservation areas require formal notification to the local authority before any work can begin. It takes 8 weeks for a TPO decision and 6 weeks for an answer in a Conservation Area once the application has been submitted and acknowledged by the council.

Additionally, if your tree work is part of a building or development project, planning controls may require additional permissions to ensure compliance with local regulations.

At ATC, we handle the entire process for you. We will apply for the relevant permissions on your behalf, ensuring all work is carried out legally and in line with local authority requirements. Let us take the stress out of navigating these regulations so you can focus on your project.
